Job Description
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain lab ISO Quality goals for the site and accountability for audit findings.
- Manage budget for labs and approve purchases to stay within forecast.
- Own lab PSM manual and maintain current revisions of all operating procedures.
- Drive compliance and accountability across the labs.
- Determine staffing needs, complete hiring when needed, and manage training program for new and existing technicians across labs.
- Develop long term plan and vision for capital improvements.
- Maintain technical support team to drive method development, programming changes, and R&D prioritization.
- Manage commercial campaign activity reporting, working with marketing and operations to communicate and interpret results.
- Communicate, as needed, with customers in support of commercial manufacturing data.
- Drive best practices efforts with other Grace sites, such as Columbia and Pasadena, with similar facilities.
- Manage capital project scoping, estimates, and incorporation into the GCAP process.
- Work with researchers to plan and achieve milestones for R&D projects.
- Build and maintain organizations to satisfy both internal and external customer needs across both labs.
- Effectively utilize proper work processes, such as Management of Change, PSM approvals, and incident reporting.
Required Experience
- B.S. Chemical Engineering or other technical degree
- Strong organizational skills and sound technical writing skills
- A minimum of 5 years of applicable industrial experience
- Effective communication and project management skills
- Self-motivated and independent person
- Proficient in Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior lab experience running polymerization reactors or high-pressure systems
- PSM and process design experience
- Proficient in use of statistical evaluation and interpretation
- Ability to work with PI Process Book and Lab View
- Prior administrative experience leading people
