Human Resources Assistant

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected Human Resources (HR) team that provides technical assistance and processing support to human resources specialists and assistants who provide recruitment and placement, classification, employee relations, employee benefits, personnel action processing and other services for one or more assigned functional areas. You will receive formal and/or on-the-job training as needed. Duties include:
Reviewing personnel actions to determine the nature of the staffing and placement request Identifying HR processing data to include nature of action and authority codes, remarks, and other requirements Participating in preparing announcements by modifying or updating standardized portions of previous job announcements Assisting HR specialists in the classification of selected positions by gathering background information Providing general information to employees regarding employee benefits programs Screening applications for selected occupations for minimum qualifications on the basis of experience and educational requirements Producing a variety of written documents utilizing varied and advanced functions in each of several types of Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. GS-05:
To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must have:
at least ONE year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level; or four years of education above the high school level; or a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below. Specialized Experience is defined asexperience performing human resources, administrative or clerical duties in an office environment. Examples include reviewing documents with legal implications for accuracy and completeness (e.g., court documents, real estate documents, contracts, insurance or benefits claims, mortgage or loan applications, tax forms, or other types of legal documents); typing and formatting correspondence and forms; ensuring written documents are formatted correctly with accurate spelling, punctuation, capitalization and grammar; and ensuring outgoing correspondence is distributed, maintaining file systems; and obtaining needed information from files or general reference sources. Experience:
Successfully completed post-high school education may be used to meet the total one year of specialized experience requirement equivalent to the GS-4 grade level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP):
The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if:
1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
