Environmental Specialist
Ecology and Environment, Inc. is a fully integrated environmental consulting firm committed to supporting sustainable development through responsible environmental stewardship. We are seeking an Environmental Specialist for our Baton Rouge, LA office.
This position will be responsible for conducting a variety of tasks including research, report preparation, and environmental fieldwork. The successful candidate must be self-starter who is able to work independently and as part of a team, and must have solid technical writing skills.
Responsibilities:
oFieldwork related to soil, groundwater, and surface water sample collection, industrial and commercial site investigation, and biological studies including wetland delineations, wildlife, vegetation, and fisheries surveys throughout the U.S.
oConduct research and prepare written summaries of research results
oData analysis, interpretation, and report-writing
oTechnical support for a variety of projects related to environmental permitting, environmental impact statements, water and natural resource evaluations, and contaminated site evaluation/remediation
Requirements:
oBachelor's Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related discipline
oRelevant internship, student assistant related project experience required; consulting experience is a plus
oExperience with or knowledge of habitat and protected species surveys, wetland delineations, soil and/or water sampling, water and air quality monitoring, GPS data systems and GIS data review.
oAbility to conduct fieldwork and carry up to 50 lbs. of field gear in challenging conditions including extreme weather conditions throughout the U.S.
oValid driver's license and ability to travel for fieldwork up to 50% of the time (up to 3 weeks at a time)
oStrong interpersonal communication, organizational, analytical, and technical writing and research skills
oAbility to work independently and as part of a team
