MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus six years of professional engineering experience.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience.
A Ph.D. in engineering will substitute for two years of the required experience.
Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of required experience.
NOTE:
Applications will be accepted from persons licensed to practice professional engineering in states other than Louisiana. If one of those applicants is selected for the position, he/she will be required to obtain a Louisiana license prior to appointment. The hiring agency will verify that all licensing requirements are met.
NOTE:
Engineering experience gained prior to earning a professional engineer's license (e.g., as an engineer intern applicant, engineer intern, or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level engineering experience.
NOTE:Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Engineer 5 DOTD by staff level/size and/or by the scope and complexity of assigned projects/programs. The extent of responsibilities generally requires a few (3-5) team leaders in positions comparable to Engineer 4 or Engineer 5 (DCL).
Differs from Engineer 7 DOTD by the absence of subordinate professional engineering supervisors.
Examples of Work:
Supervises, coordinates and reviews the work of a moderate staff of engineers, other professionals and technicians; estimates personnel needs, and schedules and assigns work to meet completion dates.
Coordinates and directs a number of large and important engineering projects/programs or a project/program of major scope and importance, ensuring quality of work performed meets established standards.
Makes decisions independently on engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial problems that have an important effect on major DOTD programs.
Maintains liaison with individuals and units, within and outside the agency, with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to incumbents field.
Provides technical guidance; develops policies and procedures; participates in strategic planning sessions; develops work program and budget.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
