MINIMUM
Qualifications:
A baccalaureate degree plus six years of professional level experience in information technology. Two years of the required experience must have been at the supervisory level or as an information technology management consultant.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Experience or training in information technology or electronic technician work will substitute for the required college training on the basis of twelve months of experience/training for two years of college.
An associate degree in computer science will substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
A baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours in computer science, management information systems (MIS), quantitative business analysis-computer science, electrical engineering, information systems and decision sciences, computer engineering, telecommunications, or computer information systems will substitute for one year of the required general experience.
A master's degree in the above fields will substitute for one year of the required general experience.
Specialized degrees will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required general experience.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies:the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Job Description:
Incumbent of this position manages, plans, and directs the activities of multiple statewide Datacenters and a staff of managers and technical support personnel.
Directs, plans, organizes and administers computing services and support of information technology hardware and software within major state Datacenters. Directs and monitors operations, procurement functions, technical support, and disaster recovery of large mainframes, mid-range systems, servers, messaging systems, storage, and cloud services in support of many statewide systems. Meets with agency administrators, users, vendors and supervisory personnel to discuss and resolve operational problems, plans and administrative issues.
Facilities Management - Oversees the planning and preparation of infrastructure supporting all computing equipment within the Information Services Building and the Department of Public Safety Datacenters, housing computers and network equipment for organizations statewide. Meets with architects, engineers, contractors, and state personnel to document capabilities and current and future requirements of the facility, documenting electrical, floor space, and HVAC plans. Develops plans and budgets to ensure reliable operation. Directs subordinate personnel in the preparation of CAD layout and architectural, mechanical, and electrical renderings in management of facilities.
Reviews agency hardware and software requirements and computer utilization to prepare recommendations for computing systems and functions that will be consolidated within the Datacenters. Sets schedules for consolidation of computer systems and oversees the implementation of datacenter consolidation plans. Meets with department officials and staff in planning conversions, negotiating service levels, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Oversees and approves the selection, purchase and installation of data center equipment. Approves purchases and contracts for Data Center services. Manages and approves the selection, purchase, and installation of data processing equipment and software. Develops budget recommendations for personnel services, training, equipment, materials and all other Datacenter related activities.
Directs technical, physical, and operational security to assure confidential, integrity, and availability of systems, data, and facilities. Develops and guides staff in implementation of policies and controls for technology and security. Initiates and reviews efforts of contract and state personnel in vulnerability assessments and use of tools and procedures to deter, detect, and mitigate threats.
