Qualifications:
Four years of experience in the painting trade.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in the painting trade will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis.
Job Concepts Function of Work:
To provide supervision, guidance, logistical support and limited administration to a group of Painters performing, journeyman level painting.
Level of Work:
Supervisor.
Supervision Received:
Broad review from a maintenance supervisor or agency official of higher grade.
Supervision Exercised:
Line over Painter, Painter Leader, and Apprentices.
Location of Work:
May be used by all state agencies.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Painter Leader by the presence of full supervisory responsibilities.
Differs from Structural Painter as it does not normally work higher than two stories.
Examples of Work Supervises a crew of painters, assigning work and inspecting it regularly; supervises and participates in mixing paints and matching colors; supervises the erection and testing of scaffolding.
Inspects surfaces for cleanliness and readiness for painting.
Requisitions supplies and equipment; maintains check on materials requirements and sees to it that supplies are available; estimates cost of jobs and amounts of materials necessary.
Inspects areas to be painted to determine the materials and time required in order to estimate the cost of the project.
Keeps record of time worked by crew and submits re ports.
Performs various related work as assigned or required.
Evaluates subordinates work performance.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
