Come work in a vibrant academic oncology program in one of the country's most diverse and thriving Veterinary Schools! Louisiana State University has an open clinical or tenure-track faculty position for a surgical oncologist to join our team of two medical oncology faculty (one full-time, one consultant), one radiation oncology faculty, four residents (three medical oncology and one radiation oncology), and five full-time oncology nurses. We are presently recruiting an additional two medical oncology faculty and one radiation oncology faculty, with the goal of expanding the team to three full-time medical oncologists and two radiation oncologists. We have a busy and growing combined clinical service that allows for comprehensive patient care that is supported by a diagnostic imaging service with a new CT scanner, clinical pathology, anatomic pathology, five anesthesiologists, and a full complement of other specialty services. Our 21EX linear accelerator with on-board imaging including cone beam CT is capable of SRT, IMRT, 3D conformal, and electron radiation treatments. We have a dedicated chemotherapy suite, compliant with USP 800 standards.In addition, we are rapidly building up a clinical trials program and have clinical and laboratory support staff that are equipped to facilitate additional clinical trials. We are also members of the Comparative Oncology Trials Consortium (COTC). We're excited to add another faculty member to our dynamic group! This is a clinical track faculty position in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences with a concurrent appointment to the professional staff of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Clinical:
The position includes a 70% clinical commitment to the Oncology Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). Individual will be responsible for directing, instructing and supervising veterinary students, interns, and residents; providing health care and service to in house and referral patients; and advising and consulting with referring veterinarians and clients. Primary case responsibility and collaboration with the medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgical teams for case consultation. Teaching:
The primary teaching responsibility will be direct daily supervision and instruction of students, interns and residents in the Oncology service regarding surgical oncology. Other responsibilities include:
