Monitoring Technician - Telemetry-Cardiac PM

JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION Observes cardiac monitoring equipment to identify rhythm changes.
Job is performed to meet the needs for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.

JOB FUNCTIONS1.
Observes cardiac telemetry monitors for changes in heart rhythm.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Consistently utilized Lead II lead placement for monitoring.
Identifies and documents cardiac rhythm every 8 hours and documents rhythm changes as they occur with correct interpretation.
Monitors all equipment every shift and documents 100% of the time.
Responds to emergency patient situations appropriately and following department protocols.
Notifies nurse of any cardiac changes.

Correctly uses and maintains proper function of Telemetry equipment.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Correctly sets up new or existing patients 100% of the time.
Obtains admission and discharge monitor strips on all Telemetry patients.
Follows proper procedure for malfunctioning Telemetry monitors per hospital policy and procedure.

Participates in the admission and discharge processes.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Communicates all pending admissions to the appropriate unit staff 100% of the time.
Receives and assists patients and visitors to the unit in accordance with SHARE values.
Accurately enters patient data into the Telemetry monitor, initiates patient record and notifies appropriate personnel within defined timelines.
Ensures the appropriate department, within defined timelines and in accordance with policy, receives medical records.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to paper and electronic medical records with limitation to job function, patient's demographics, medical records related to quality/data, information related to patient location and religious beliefs.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to:
incident reporting, handles wastes, sharps and linens, PPE, hand washing, exposure control plans, environmental rounds to ensure safety, and clinical alarms for adolescent through adult age groups.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS1-year health care setting preferred1 year monitor technician experience preferredEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSHigh School diploma or equivalent preferredCompletion of BRGMC EKG course or equivalent.
