Reliability Engineer

Our subsidiary, Ecoservices, is on the hunt for a Mechanical Reliability Engineer for our Baton Rouge, LA plant.
As the Reliability Engineer for the site, you will provide technical leadership within the maintenance group, focusing on mechanical reliability and helping to achieve a proactive, predictive maintenance organization.
You will schedule departmental and site resources and plan activities to continually improve equipment reliability and optimization safely and cost-effectively, while complying with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) standards as set forth under OSHA and Eco Services.
You will be a change agent, inspire discipline, efficiency, and accountability to the maintenance workforce in the overall execution of day to day activities.
What will be fundamental to your success will be fostering a mindset of the maintenance workforce that identifies root causes and adopts swift corrective action to eliminate and prevent repetitive repairs of similar issues.
You will drive the development of maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs), such as OEE, MTBF, On Stream Time (OST) benchmark performance against best in class, track progress, and measure success in these endeavors.
Conduct analysis/investigations and provide leadership to others in Failure Mode Analysis & Root Cause Analysis on equipment failures that significantly affect Safety, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), or costs.
Recommend improvement programs and practices intended to prevent similar failures.
Generate formal failure analysis reports for distribution to the equipment owner as well as the Enterprise Reliability Network.
Analyze maintenance data to identify trends in equipment performance that adversely affect Safety, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, or costs.
Provide technical assistance to Maintenance Planners and Supervisors on rotating equipment issues such as mechanical seals, turbine overhauls, bearing designs, etc.
Coordinate and direct Predictive Maintenance activities such as vibration analysis, ultrasonic inspection, thermography, and oil analysis.
Manage the plant Mechanical Integrity Program and ensure that all required testing and new work follows state and federal code requirements, as well as Eco Services' expectations and Best Practices.
Recommend (to operations and maintenance) items to include in turnaround work.
During turnarounds, ascertain conditions of mechanical equipment--working with Plant Inspectors and Maintenance personnel.
Provide input into post-turnaround reports.
Oversee Management of Change process pertaining to maintenance activities.
Perform project engineering for maintenance improvements, upgrades and shutdowns.
Review and provide technical input into capital projects, including the management of the maintenance portion of the Early Equipment Care program.
Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions on a regular basis.
Manage contract support personnel.
Assists in establishing equipment numbering of all equipment/instrumentation.
Develops Equipment Reliability Strategy program on each piece of equipment.
Performs PM Optimization Reviews on all PDMs/CMs.
Assist in the accurate development of equipment Bill of Materials.
Works with equipment improvement teams to ensure consistency with overall maintenance strategies.
Reviews equipment history for trends and recommend improvements.
Develops Maintenance Strategies on all critical equipment.
Perform PM Optimization reviews to ensure the strategies will prevent premature failures of plant equipment.
Leads Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) teams to diagnose equipment failures and drive corrective actions.
Ensure Mechanical Integrity (MI) inspection data is set up accurately in our Ultra pipe corrosion monitoring software database, and ensure it is analyzed, documented, and any deficiencies are communicated effectively.
Shares improvement bulletins and RCFA learning's with enterprise and site.
Evaluates and produces MI Alert Reports.
Monitors/ensures the quality of repairs to pumps, compressors, turbines, fans and other related work requiring skilled millwrights or electricians.
Ensure all key elements of ECO's MI program are fully established within the plant's MI program.
Establish frequencies and priorities for all required MIT inspections, and that inspections are maintained current.
Performs field audits regarding planning and scheduling effectiveness.
Formulates detailed job plan instructions (Standard Procedures on PMs/PDMS).
Provides technical input on capital projects and/or equipment specifications.
Coordinates outside services as required by job, plans for specialized work.
Recommends equipment reliability improvements and identifies cost reduction opportunities.
Works with craftsmen to identify root cause of failures & rework repairs - assists in certain cases.
Routinely reviews backlogs and/or MI compliance reports to ensure all critical PM/PDMs and MI inspections are scheduled/completed within established time limits.
Manages small capital projects as needed.
Participate in the operations/maintenance on-call duty.
Ability to read and interpret regulations.

Health, Safety, and Environmental
Responsibilities:
Be a custodian of the plant's HSE policies and procedures, particularly as it relates to design, planning, and field execution of work.
Member of the plant HSSE Management Team.
Support the RCMS HSE Management System.
Work with Operations on safe management of equipment.
This includes authoring MOCs.
Manage PM compliance.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Perform permit/HSE audits as mandated by policy.
Develop maintenance SOPs and train technicians and supervisors.
Be knowledgeable of and comply with all applicable site, corporate and regulatory safety and environmental requirements.
Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and complete all applicable safety training as required.
Properly inspect, use, and maintain necessary PPE in accordance with site PPE matrix.
Report all safety or environmental incidents immediately and openly participate in the incident investigation.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (B.
A.
) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Mechanical engineering preferred.
3-5 years of relevant maintenance and reliability experience, preferably in a chemical process production plant with emphasis on implementing preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
Proven analytical and successful troubleshooting/problem-solving skills; able to apply them to assess and improve equipment reliability.
Strong communication, customer service, and decision-making skills; clear and concise communicator (written and verbal).
Competent computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office programs; a general understanding of databases is desirable.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
