7 9 hours ago Full Job Description Job Description Grace is seeking a Process Technology Chemist to join our Specialty Catalyst Process Technology team located in Baton Rouge, LA.
This role reports to Process Technology Manager and will provide critical support for new product development across the company, along with manufacturing support for our Specialty Catalyst business.
The ideal candidate will have a high level of qualitative and quantitative chemical problem-solving abilities.
This position will focus on excellence in Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).
Familiarity and experience with other analytical techniques including NMR, ICP, GC, and wet chemistry would be highly advantageous.
Responsibilities Operate and maintain DSC and other scientific instruments/equipment Generate calorimetry data for evaluation of reactive hazards in new and existing processes at Grace, working in conjunction with Process Safety team Design experiments to solve analytical chemistry problems Provide technical support for commercial products Work in a manner that promotes good health, safety, and environmental practices Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers and plant support chemists to meet the needs of the Baton Rouge site and other Specialty Catalyst facilities As necessary, serve as backup for other analytical techniques including NMR, ICP and wet chemistry Maintain good laboratory housekeeping standards Physical Requirements and Environment Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Required Qualifications BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science Effective time management skills and detail-oriented High initiative and ability to learn Self-motivated and independent worker with willingness and ability to also perform in a team environment Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels within the organization Preferred Qualifications Experience with analytical chemistry experience to include methods such as DSC, NMR, ICP, and GC experience in evaluation of air-sensitive compounds Knowledgeable in the use of glove boxes Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance Life Insurance and Disability Grace Wellness Program Flexible Workplace Retirement Plans 401(k) Company Match - Dollar to dollar up to the first 6% Paid Vacation and Holidays Parental Leave (salaried only) Tuition Reimbursement Company Donation Match Program Grace is not accepting unsolicited assistance from search firms for this employment opportunity.
